It’s chilly here. I’m dreaming of warm breezes by the Chesapeake Bay and photographing engagement sessions without thick coats and wool socks. I remember photographing Aveen’s graduation from graduate school before her and Steven were even dating. There was one image from that party where I knew he had a thing for her. Years later, here we are, they are engaged and (once COVID lets up) I’ll be photographing their wedding.

I really enjoy photographing engagements in the Fall. The tonality of the world, the colors, the smells (not that you can enjoy those in photographs), it just all lends itself to great engagement photographs. This day was no different when I met up with Megan and Noah for their engagement photographs. It was a chilly day last November, but these two managed to brush it off like it was a perfect 65 degree day.

Trying to do things in chronological order here. Cassie and Mike’s wedding day was just a week ago and I hadn’t blogged their stellar engagement photos yet. Last Fall the three of us met up at Loch Raven Reservoir when the leaves were at peak color.

Good things are worth waiting for. It has been quite some time since I’ve shared a blog post, but I am really excited to share an engagement session I did with Sarah and Andrew in Fells Point and Henderson’s Wharf early one Summer morning.

A few warmer months back, I had the opportunity to meet Kate and Kevin in the Inner Harbor of downtown Baltimore for their engagement photos. We got down there bright and early to make sure the crowds would be limited and we could beat the heat (ended up being around 95 that day). Like the start to a romcom (which I could swear I’ve seen), Kate met Kevin while she was dating one of his fraternity brothers. Turned out that guy was a jerk and Kevin let him know it. These two hit it off almost immediately there after. Some time passed and Kevin finally proposed to Kate in the National Aquarium dolphin exhibit, right in front of the glass where you can see all the dolphins swimming by.

I met Krista and Cam through mutual friends. At the time I met them, I’d assumed they’d been together for years. These two just clicked in the way that only couples who have seen it all together can. Turns out, at that time they’d only been together a few years. I was so excited when they asked me to photograph their wedding and engagement. We got to do some really fun and different things with this engagement shoot like be on the roof of their building!

Well it was certainly chilly this morning. In the low 50s when I rolled out of the house on my way to Fells Point. Standing outside of The Daily Grind sipping on a red-eye and looking out over the Inner Harbor, I could not help but just feel the peace that Baltimore has in the early mornings. Beautiful mornings like this are made for engagement sessions. I knew that Jessica and Max's engagement photographs in Fells Point were going to be spectacular.

For the most part my engagement and wedding photography happens in or near by Baltimore, and never on a farm. When I got the call from Lindsay asking me to be her wedding photographer I didn't expect that we'd be shooting her engagement on this amazing farm. The wind was crisp but the sun kept us warm as we wondered around the farm that belongs to their cousins (and is fully operational!). Photographing their engagement on the farm was such a cool opportunity. It gave me the opportunity to flex my creative muscles and actually work with some open spaces.

One of the cool opportunities I get as a wedding photographer, is working with people that I've known for a long time. Jessica here, is the daughter of one of my father's high school friends. I've known her longer than most other people in my life and despite not being a blood relative, she might as well be my cousin. When I found out that she had a guy in her life and a little one on the way I jumped at the opportunity to photograph the two of them. Then, I found out that we were going to photograph their engagement session at the Kent State University Airport. How cool, right? We literally photographed on a runway...

This couple here, Mary and Steve, or Molly and Steve depending on who you ask (full story on that in their wedding blog post to come) are amazing. These two keep it hot, so much so that Steve is actually a fireman and Mary, an EMT to help treat those burn wounds. For their engagement session, they had me out to their freaking amazing house right on the freaking amazing water on a freaking amazing day to take freaking amazing photos. Oh, and they gave me beer. This has to be one of my favorite engagement sessions to date. Hanging out with two really chill and very down to earth people, drinking beer and taking beautiful photographs. What more could you ask for?
