Engagement photography is a lot of fun. While that is a bland statement if there ever was one, allow me to elaborate. Engagement photography is fun because it is such a unique and relaxed type of shoot. You the couple, has no external pressures on you (at least not the ones that exist on a wedding day or in a family shoot) and I (the photographer) get to play around and make beautiful moments.

vemödalen
n. the frustration of photographing something amazing when thousands of identical photos already exist - the same sunset, the same waterfall, the same curve of a hip the same closeup of an eye - which can turn a unique subject into something hollow and pulpy and cheap, like a mass-produced piece of furniture you happen to have assembled yourself.

These photos may be old but the story is important. Shortly after deciding to start my photography business some close friends of mine asked me to shoot engagement photos of them in Annapolis. Now I've known Kyle my entire life, his father and my father have been best friends since high school. So having the opportunity to photograph him with his fiance Rina was a really an honor.

I've wanted to do an engagement photo shoot in Fells Point for quite a while now, Bethany and Mark gave me that chance. We met early on a BEAUTIFUL Sunday morning and proceeded to wonder around the cute historic residential area that surrounds one of my favorite neighborhoods to grab a drink, particularly a good beer (gotta love Max's Tap House). Bethany and Mark met while working for the same company a few years back.

As you all are aware I'm a proponent of using the gifts you have to support charities and give back. I had the opportunity to help with the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation's 65 Roses Event hosted by Jenna (www.ruffdraftsolutions.com) at Union Jack's in Annapolis. This was an amazing event with many amazing groups who donated their time and goods for auction. There was even an awesome imrpov show by Free Range Improve (www.freerangeimprov.com). It was an amazing night that managed to raise a significant amount of money for CFF.

I have always believed that it is important to use the gifts you are given to help others. For me that means using my photography to support charities that I feel very strongly about. Cystic Fibrosis is a life-threatening, genetic disease that causes persistent lung infections and progressively limits the ability to breath. It is a truly scary disease as there is no cure.

Rainy days and great coffee, two of my favorite things. Unfortunately only one of them works well with photo shoots... Christine and Jeff met me at an awesome little coffee shop called the Bun Shop on one of Mount Vernon's quieter streets. While sitting around sipping amazing drinks (Vietnamese Coffee is now my absolute favorite, check it out) they told me their story.

I love wondering around Annapolis; when Cathee and Tony reached out to me about shooting down by the Severn Sailing Association in the harbor of Annapolis I jumped on the opportunity. Cathee and Tony have been married for a few years now but never got around to having their wedding photos done so they finally decided to do a couples shoot and the results were beautiful.
